This One's For You

You know how each family has that thing they do? Well my family's  thing is making videos. So when that Saturday would arrive and you realized you had no plans whatsoever, a video it was!

This video clearly won the "Most Embarrassing" award.

Hope you laugh your heads off.

Let's Get Real

A night on the town with heavenly BBQ? I'm so there.

If ya'll (entirely appropriate word choice for this post) haven't been to Joes Real BBQ, then you haven't lived. Apparently I haven't been living for a while now because this weekend I was a first timer and let me tell you it won't be my last!

If the adorable neon sign doesn't bring you in, the delectable scent of every meat imaginable will. Also the ambiance couldn't be cuter. I mean string lights and picnic tables? SO CUTE.

Kenzie and I were in absolute barbeque heaven. So if you and I make a lunch date soon, don't be surprised if we end up here!

Halloween Hoopla

Halloween is approaching... and I'm not the biggest fan, for the following reasons:

1. I hate all things haunted/gory/bleh.
2. Costumes are stressful.
3. Who wants to hear endless ringing of their doorbell?!
4. Parents with 6 month old babies come to the door with bags open, begging for extra candy, "it's for the baby." Seriously?!
5. It's the perfect opportunity for someone to scare me...

Although there are some perks to this Halloween hoopla:

1. Candy
2. Ward Chili Party
3. Pumpkin Pickin'
4. It's that much closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Jerret and I went to go pick pumpkins and each found the perfect one. We went home to carve and decorate all while watching The Voice {we're totally Team Blake}.

Jerret is the master at carving and showed me the ropes. He chose to do a cyclops. It TOTALLY is Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. we're just lacking the green!

I went the very simple route, and carved some leaves. Knowing me it HAD to be gold with
"welcome fall" written on the front.

We finally agreed on our couples costume, and I'm actually excited to see how it turns out!

Fingers crossed.

Gettin' All Woodsy

We made it happen this week. Jerret's greatest wish of us going camping. The wish I've been purposefully procrastinating...

Don't get me wrong. I really do enjoy the outdoors and getting away from the world, but through time I've developed this clip in my head of me getting attacked by wild animals.

Says the wife of the most outdoorsy man that ever lived.

HA.

We went anyway.

Yeah, I didn't get a wink of sleep, but I sure had a great time!

As we set up camp I noticed my arms were gone. Just kidding, but they were covered in mosquitoes! So I bolted to the car and begged Jerret every two seconds, to take me into town to get some repellent. He was a saint and totally did so.

Bug spray... check.

We decided to put some on in the parking lot. I basically showered in it and got so many stares. The smell was overpowering and basically human repellent too.

We got back and fished, threw the frisbee around and took a walk together just as the sun was setting.

While gathered around the fire, we munched on popcorn and candy, chatted with some ward friends and listened to Bishops devotional.

Like I said earlier, I didn't sleep. What a great thing because I listened to Conference Talks all night.
Lucky Jerret! He was probably inspired ALL NIGHT LONG!

We woke up, ate some breakfast, packed up camp and were off to go shooting.

Jerret shot and prepped for his hunt this year, while I shot some targets.

Really, the "sweets" outweighed the "sours". I conquered my fear, came back with minimal bug bites and didn't gain 5 pounds from my candy intake.

How was your weekend?

Celebrate good times, c'mon!

Smell that? That's the smell of a BEAUTIFUL weekend coming our way! Before the weekend catches up to us, here is a recap of this past weekend; our anniversary!

Jerret and I exchanged gifts and couldn't stop smiling! I wanted SO BADLY to just give him his gifts as soon I as I bought 'em! He got a picture collage, sweater and a custom made pillow! Plus it was fun 'cause we each had a budget to work with! I love a good challenge!

But my gifts were the absolute SWEETEST! J is just full of love and creativity! He made this book of our relationship that has cartoons of the both of us! It's called "The Reasons I Love You". Seriously, how lucky am I? I also got a pedicure gift certificate! Yeah, he knows what he's doing!

We were so excited to see "Meet the Mormons" and if you haven't seen it, stop reading this blog and GO. {yes, it's that good. make sure to bring tissues!}

We topped the night off with dinner at Beyond Bread. It's my fave here in Tucson! We also got dessert but ate it so darn fast and I doubt you want pictures of crumbs.

I love my sweetheart! We make such a good team.
But I really have to go now 'cause my heart just exploded with love.

Wedding Day {Part 1}

Happiest 1 Year to US.

It boggles my mind that it has already been a year! And what a year it has been! I wasn't sure it was possible that my love for Jerret could grow bigger and stronger, but it has. He is always there, to my rescue, for snuggles and is the BEST temple buddy. All my love is for you J! You're the best!

Rewind to a year ago....

Here is a little excerpt from "the head of Maddi".

10.12.13 - Wedding Day

8am.
  • Wake up
  • "Oh my goodness, I ACTUALLY fell asleep?" (I was so worried I'd stay up all night.)
  • "I need to eat breakfast"
  • "Nope. I'm gonna barf"
  • "Dang you nerves"
  • Mom makes me eat anyway
9am
  • Hair appointment with Natalie
  • "Please turn out like I want"
  • Curls hair
  • Of course it looks perfect. (Natalie is the hair wizard)
  • Mom and Natalie tell me "first night" horror stories...
  • Everyone's telling me it's going to be okay though
  • And I'm here sweating bullets
10am
  • Finish up makeup
  • Pep talk with Kenzie
  • Temple bag is ready to go
  • Wait for Jerret to pick me up
  • Stressed to the max
11am
  • Arrive at temple
  • Dry heave twice
  • Jerret holds my hand tight
  • (he's the best)
  • Walk inside
11:45am
  • "Guys, I totally got this"
  • Almost faint
  • Carried back to dressing room
  • Fed saltine crackers by temple workers
  • Slowly sip water
  • Jerret is thinking I probably ran away
  • DEEP BREATHS
As soon as the ceremony began, my Heavenly Father blessed me with so much peace...
And then we were married for ETERNITY.

Walking out of the temple I was overwhelmed with love. I was staring at a roaring sea of close friends and family!

Rachael took our pictures and documented EXACTLY everything I wanted. She's a total mind reader and is a joy to be with! Shout out to Rachael Pullman Photography!
